We integrate scales and barcoding into meat, poultry, and food processing plants with wireless real-time data collection. Product is tracked down to the individual serial number, making traceability and inventory control exceptionally powerful.

PPS is the cost-effective answer to the lot-tracking and labeling challenges of today's processing plants. From slaughter to e-commerce, it runs on SQL Server with the latest networked and stand-alone scale technologies to ensure the highest level of reliability — and it's fully customizable for any manufacturing facility.

Weighing is configured per product and per station — fixed weight, catch weight, or tare — with PPS running on the Rice Lake 1280 indicator itself. The same software travels as a rolling scale cart, a fixed station with a stainless washdown printer enclosure, or a harvest tagging station, so the label prints where the product actually is — GS1 case labels included.

Zebra barcode scanners work in lockstep with the desktop: creating and managing locations, running cycle counts, receiving raw materials against purchase orders, and transferring product between locations. The same piece cannot be scanned twice to an order, and audio feedback confirms every valid scan — the error is caught at the moment it happens.

Track & Trace

The chain, unbroken

Traceability that depends on extra steps decays, because operators are busy and anything optional gets skipped on a hard day. The chain below is built as a side effect of normal work — nobody is “doing traceability,” they are just working.

Serialization

Every piece, case, and pallet carries its own serial number from the moment it is weighed — so a unit is individually identifiable, not merely counted.

Carcass tagging

Tags applied at the rail bind supplier, animal ID, lot, and weight to the carcass before it breaks down, so the chain starts at the animal rather than at the box.

Flock & lot grouping

Poultry flocks and incoming raw-material lots are grouped at receiving and carried forward through every downstream transaction.

Production lots

Grinds, mixes, and further-processed runs inherit their parent lots, so combined product still knows every source that went into it.

Operator tracking

Each transaction records who performed it and at which station — the detail an auditor asks for, and the one a shift supervisor actually uses.

Recall reporting

Ask which customers received a lot and get the answer in minutes: cases, weights, orders, and BOL numbers, ready to export.

Beyond the Floor

Edge Hardware

The Cube — plant-floor intelligence

A sealed edge gateway that adds the floor's own conditions to the record: continuous temperature and humidity from coolers, freezers, and chill stages, and machine cycle counts read straight from thermoformers, packaging lines, and checkweighers.

Readings are timestamped at the edge and buffered locally, so an outage leaves no gaps, and equipment with no data port can still be instrumented. Sealed enclosure, no exposed ports — these rooms get hosed down every night.

Reporting & AI

Reporting and on-site AI

The newest part of the system is not a screen — it is how much of the work the system does on its own.

Natural-language reports

Describe the report you want in plain English. It is composed against a curated catalog of your own data — never raw database queries — so it cannot invent numbers or reach into records it should not. Every report states its own window, filters, and units.

Sentinels

Standing rules that watch for a condition and log every occurrence — every time a product is sold at minimum margin, for instance. The system watches, so nobody has to remember to.

On-site AI

The model runs on the plant’s own hardware, not a third-party cloud. Your production data never leaves the building, and the assistant reads paperwork and answers how-do-I questions where the work happens.
